Origin:
I spawned in Liberec, Czechia, 1999. I essentially grew up inside video games—nothing else ever had so much of my attention and dedication.
After spending a few years working “normal” jobs in IT and software development, I realized that path wasn’t for me.
Experience:
I’ve been designing and programming games for over five years. And you can find merit of that in Portfolio section.
I’m a self-taught, solo developer – an endlessly curious person, obsessed with understanding the deeper connections across the many disciplines of game development.
I love how art and technology come together to create experiences that people can enjoy and get lost in.
For the most part I have been pursuing game development as a hobby, thus most of my public projects on Itch.io are seemingly unfinished. I have been part of one indie project. The project tried, and failed – lessons learned and we moved on.
Recently my focus in game development shifted to getting into small, commercial viable projects.
Interests
Beyond video games my hobbies include Music – both listening and playing.
I am Percussionist in a small band. – Check us out on: instagram.com/amatri_official
I enjoy cooking exotic dishes.
I like fantasy stories of all kinds.
And have inclination for self-mastering physical activities like bouldering or calisthenics.
Convictions
Video games are uniquely complex media with nearly infinite potential and it takes a lot of clever minds to connect and carefully balance the concepts of Game Mechanics, Level Design, Graphics, Audio, Narrative …(and frankly many other factors)… to create not just an enjoyable game, but impactful experience.
Tight small teams can achieve far higher quality than, corporate bloats. And as the media evolves, player start acknowledge quality of games over the hours spent in them.
Generative AI does not have it’s place in replacing creative work of any role in game development, and should be use very cautiously for technical tasks.
I don’t think Game Development yet fully understands the optimal way to use AI – a way that does not effectively optimize at a cost of humanity in video-games.
